"Maple Forest Road"

"Maple Forest Road" painted with Grumbacher Pre-Tested Oils on a 16 x 20 inch hardboard panel.

The late afternoon sun rakes across the forest casting long shadows across a back country farm road in Vermont. A grassy meadow lies over the hill with the Green Mountains rise in the distance. Quintessential Vermont in autumn when the maple trees blaze with their bright red and orange colors. The original painting measures 16 x 20 inches and is painted in oils on a 1/4 inch thick hardboard panel.

The original painting is avaiable at Gallery On The Green, One The Green, Woodstock, VT 05091

Painted with Grumbacher Pre-Tested Oils   "Vermont Woodland Spring" painted on a 16 x 20 inch hardboard panel.

This oil painting was inspired by my hikes along the abandoned "Old County Road" in Topsham, Vermont where I lived for a quarter of a century.

Soft light filters down through a canopy of new green leaves. The trees in the forest are budding after the long hibernation of deep winter snows that have melted away. Bright green mosses cover the boulders that keep surfacing due to the action of repeated frosts and ground freezes, Spring is in the air and beckons the viewer to travel along the abandoned road in this Vermont hardwood forest.
